Grant received from NC Public Health Foundation

RC Tennis is pleased to announce that we have received a Catalyst for Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) small project funds grant from the NC Public Health Foundation to support of RC Tennis outreach to summer tennis programs at Bridge Street Recreation Center and Rockingham County Schools Kids Companion.

The Catalyst supports Beaufort, Burke, Cleveland, Edgecombe, Halifax, McDowell, Nash, and Rockingham Counties in addressing key risk factors for chronic diseases by increasing supports for active living and healthy eating. Using sustainable strategies, the Catalyst creates communities where healthier choices are available and easier to make.

The North Carolina Public Health Foundation (NCPHF) was founded in 2003, initially to improve the capability of the North Carolina Division of Public Health (DPH) in the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to serve the public health needs of North Carolina. We are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and are certified as a DHHS Related Foundation.  We’ve had great success promoting dynamic partnerships between DPH and local service providers, community coalitions and statewide organizations.  We have fostered investment in public health by a wide range of foundations, endowments and other funders—securing over $18.5 million in support of programs ranging from statewide pandemic flu preparedness to catalyzing improved environments for healthy eating and active living.  As we increase our capacity and visibility within the public health community, more resources–backed by the expertise of DPH–will be devoted to addressing the complex determinants of health across North Carolina.
